Week 7 Update

Week 7 Update

It has been wonderful meeting with parents over the past few weeks. Thank you for taking the time to come to school to discuss your child’s progress with me.  We have our last half-day for parents conferences on Tuesday of this week.  We will be having our “Pumpkin Camp” this week – on Wednesday and Thursday.  We will be having our Halloween celebration on Thursday afternoon and parents are invited to join us from 2:30 – 3:15 for treats and a few Halloween games.  Please let me know if you will be attending so I can reassure your child when they ask.
In the computer lab this week, we went online to Johnny’s Math Page (jmathpage.com) and played games on the ten frame. These games are located in the number section of the website and would be great to practice at home as well.
Our guided reading groups have been meeting and we are really building our stamina during “read to self” and “read to someone”.  Ask your child to tell you about the decoding strategies they are using.  In writing, we are working on “bringing our characters to life” by adding details and maybe even some dialogue. We will continue working on this over the next few weeks.
Our Word Wall words for the past two weeks were: saw, him, her, when, why, had, not, note, those, these. I will try to remember to post them weekly so you can help your child practice them at home as well.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to our Family Game Night basket for the PTO Auction. I hope you will be able to attend on November 5th at 6pm. This is a great fundraiser for our amazing PTO!
Enjoy this beautiful fall weekend!  Please make sure your child has a jacket for recess this week. The winds are blowing! :)
